Family Resource Center

What is the Family Resource Center?

The Family Resource Center at Penn is a hub for information, resources, activities, and advocacy for students and post-doctoral fellows with children. The Family Center provides a forum for parents to connect and develop supportive networks, and offers a welcoming environment for Penn students, post-docs, caregivers, and children. The space includes a children's play area complete with toys, books, stuffed animals; a private lactation room equipped with a Symphony breast pump; and a community bulletin board.

Many of our toys were generously donated by the Hassenfeld Family Initiatives of Hasbro. The Family Center has also received generous support from the Trustees' Council of Penn Women, and GAPSA.

The Family Center will be closed in the summer, on all University holidays and for occasional maintenance. This website will contain specific dates. The Family Center will close for the summer on Monday, May 14 at 3PM. We will maintain a play room and lactation space in the Graduate Student Center, 3615 Locust Walk, beginning on Monday, June 25.

Children visiting the Family Center must be supervised by parents or caregivers at all times. Students and post-docs who wish to use the Family Center should first review the Family Center Guidelines and must sign our Parental Release & Consent Form.

Where is the Family Resource Center?

The Family Center is located on the second floor on the east side of Houston Hall. Take the elevator or the stairs near La Petite Creperie. Students wishing to use the Center should check in at the Graduate Activity Suite first. This map of Houston Hall will help you find the Graduate Activity Suite.

Ways to Connect

Receive updates on activities and resources by joining the Family Resource Center listserv. Send an email to listserv@lists.upenn.edu with the message SUBscribe DEPENDENTS.

Volunteer for the Family Resource Center Advisory Board to help shape programs and policies for the new Center. The Board will meet monthly. Email kids@gsc.upenn.edu to volunteer.
